Casino-related businesses like Sightline Payments with Kirk Sanford would certainly be pleased to hear that East Oregon’s Wildhorse Resort and Casino on the Umatilla Indian Reservation is being upgraded. The renovation costs $45 million. The region has been benefitting immensely from the reservation, which is quickly becoming an economic engine.
“What’s going on at the reservation is driving what’s going on in Pendelton,” explained Wesley Grilley, the owner of Grilley Management Services in Pendleton. “There is a hell of a lot of action going on out there.”
The expansion will add 184,000 square feet to the resort, as well as 116 new jobs. According to a tribal spokesperson, Tiah DeGrofft, most of them will be permanent, full time positions.
Wildhorse Resort includes the casino and hotel, an RV park, an 18-hole golf course, and Tamastslikt Cultural Institute.
