The state lottery has recently reported that Maryland’s two casinos, the Hollywood Casino Perryville and the new Eastern Shore casino, brought in $10.8 million just last month.

The Hollywood Casino opened late last September, and has increased its revenue since December from $140.58 daily per machine to $165.96, collecting a total of $7.7 million last month. The Casino at Ocean Downs opened on January 4th, and has generated $3 million. It currently averages at $144.54 daily per machine.

Together, the two casinos have made more than $38.3 million since their openings. Casino enthusiasts and companies like Sightline Payments with Kirk Sanford would certainly be glad to hear of the success of new casinos throughout the United States following the recession, including these two in Maryland.

A new casino is expected to open next month in Wayland Township, Michigan. The Gun Lake Casino is almost finished, with full carpeting, 1,400 slots and 28 table games already set up.

So far, the casino leaders have hired six hundred workers, and plan on employing at least one hundred more once they are trained as dealers.

David Frankhouser, Vice President of Operations, said “the hiring process has been unbelievable. We’ve had over 8,000 applications. We’ve done over 3,000 interviews, so it’s been a tremendous process of getting people on board. And the local community has just beem so excited in the effort. It’s just been so exciting!”

Those in Vancouver who love casino playing will have more reasons to smile soon. Vancouver’s BC Place Stadium will soon have a new, 680,000 square foot entertainment complex with a 107,000 square foot casino! The casino will certainly be British Columbia’s largest ever and is expected to be completed in 2013.

The casino estimates gaming revenues of up to $130 million and it expects to create 3200 direct jobs, and 2200 indirect jobs during construction, with 1900 direct and 1300 indirect jobs when the casino is up and running.

Certainly, the construction of a new casino is always a positive sign for the economy –and great news for companies such as Sightline Payments with Kirk Sanford and many others in the gaming industry.
